Brand Highlight: Mash-Up

In true Singapore spirit this month, THE FIFTH COLLECTION looks at local designers that have pushed boundaries and added colour into our fashion scene. This week we look at the ever vibrant MASH-UP, which since launched in April 2012 has been capturing our hearts ever since with their quirky and innovative designs. Inspired by different cultures and subcultures, the team of 3 compromising of Daniela Monasterios-Tan, Nathanael Ng and Shaf Amis'aabudin are unique individuals that share a common interest in bringing out the fun in fashion with their DIY ethos.

Their collections always evoke a sense of joie de vivre, with sweaters sewn with sequinned bowls of noodles and palm trees and denim shirts with fun details like sharks and embroidered patterns. With their club kid aesthetic and penchant for bright colours, these pieces inject fun into wardrobes without being overtly in your face. Their A/W 2014 collection is inspired by the technological advancements of the world wide web and how us as humans have become reliant upon it, the collection encourages us to step away from our reliance on it.
