Knits for right now

If only you can feel how soft these are

Just because it is officially #sweaterweather season doesn't mean you have to pull out those "Bridget Jones" style knits. Sure, sometimes knitwear can be boring and dull, especially when we always go for classic colours that are neutral or muted. But if you are looking for an updated look that is modern, fresh, and elegant, our advice is to always look for inspiration.

And there is no better place to look for inspiration than to the streets.

Personally, I always do a quick Pinterest search on the pieces I’m looking for advice on. Just type in the search bar an include the term “street style”, and in a bevy of street style images will appear before you can say “Prada”. From there, it is easier to find your favourite ways on how to make this fabric work for you.

Also, since the festive season is just around the corner, choosing some bright, joyful knits to exude the kind of feel-good vibes that is much needed - no matter what we read in the news - is always a good thing.

Here’s a couple of styles you can try out.

  1. Knit co-ords

In the last year or so, knitted co-ords were the height of sophistication, and it looks like they’re not going away anytime soon. You can look for a dress set (which means it comes with a dress and cardigan), or a twinset - a cardigan, and an inner tank top. It’s the perfect piece to wear now and later when the temperature rises. This time around, we're seeing more polished dress-and-cardigan combinations rather than loungewear-inspired trouser-and-jumper sets.

2. Colourful patchwork

There’s no such thing as the winter doldrums when you’re wearing a multi-coloured wool blend sweater that's perfect when paired with jeans in classic dark shades. It’s time to have some fun, we say!

3. Comfy classic sweaters

And if you're looking for classic sweaters, then look no further than an oversized cable knit one. We’d wear a cable knit piece over a button-up with the collar pulled out for a sleek and preppy look. It can be dressed up with a pair of trousers or kept casual for an end-of-week look with wide-legged denims. This pullover will make you ready for a snuggle yet look super stylish all at the same time.
