Style Spotlight : Names to Covet

THE FIFTH COLLECTION is known for providing our collectors with some of the best vintage and pre-loved options available in the luxury fashion world. From Chanel to Hermes and Louis Vuitton to Valentino, we've always had a wide range of products for you to choose from. Plus, pieces from these established brands do retain a higher resale value.

But we also have a pool of credible under-the-radar brands for those who'd want to try something new. Up-and-coming designer labels who are turning out the interesting shapes, gorgeous jewel-toned colours and exciting styles are fast becoming the next big thing in fashion. And you want to be a part of that in-the-know clique.

This week, we highlight three fresh labels you should check out.

This rising fashion label is the brainchild of Singaporean designer Danielle Woo, whose effortless feminine aesthetic is the result of years of travelling and personal wardrobe revamps. Founded in 2010, Aijek’s design philosophy aims to create pieces that are effortless, transcends across seasons, easy to wear, modern and feminine.

Like many other independent labels, the home-grown brand does not focus entirely on delivering trend-centred designs. Instead, Aijek believes in creating timeless pieces with interesting silhouettes that can pass the test of time (and trends).

Hers may not be a household name yet but the Irish designer has had her collections featured on Women's Wear Daily and Style.com. Graduated from the prestigious Central Saint Martins in 1995, Wauchob is known for her innovative looks and masterful execution. Since the inception of the company, the label has a loyal following, especially amongst industry insiders.  Wauchob was invited to work for Japanese designer Koji Tatsuno in Paris after the latter saw her graduation show. After that she worked briefly for the house of Louis Vuitton.

In 1998, Sharon decided to launch her own label under her won name specialising in “alternative” fashion. She set up her studio in Paris. She shows her collections twice yearly during the Paris Fashion Week. In addition to her own creations, she also works with other companies. In August 2003, she landed a contract with the storied house of Bruno Magli to design shoes, handbags, belts and accessories. She is also head designer of the ethical clothing brand Edun.
