Who doesn’t love a fashion moment? Especially when you don’t have to splurge on the latest trends, take hours to pick out the perfect outfit, or wearing the most expensive clothes.

The best part? The tools you need to create these moments might just be sitting at the back of your wardrobe because you no longer have use for them. This is the time to take them out and give it a fresh spin. You see, you don’t need a stylist to do this because a little customisation can go a long way.

Read on for some of my favourite go-to tips to make some of these pieces useful again without looking too “DIY”.

1. A New Look To Your Favourite Bag

If your everyday handbag is getting boring, it’s time to start accessorising.

With an unhealthy obsession for bags, I do spend most of my paycheck on them - preloved or not. Despite having a wardrobe full of them, I often find myself running out of ideas on how to style them and getting bored of wearing the same bag every other week.

Hence, this is one of my favourite tips to add a refreshing touch to my everyday bags.

A handbag is a reflection of your style and personality. Likewise, the strap can also be used in a similar role to complement your outfit. You can make a fashion statement while finding new uses for your favourite bag.

If the strap of your everyday bag has worn out, that doesn’t mean the bag has lost its use. You can simply replace the strap by purchasing a new bag strap that allows to you add your own personalized style and create a whole new look.

One of the best brands I love to get my bag straps from, in my opinion, is Fendi. Fendi’s ‘Strap You’ collection features shoulder straps ranging from classic leather to embellished statements. Plus, most of them are adjustable to the height you’d prefer and sturdy for everyday use!

2. Endless Ways To Your Scarves

With the right scarf, you can transform your formerly favourite arm candy into something that can match almost every outfit. Here are my top scarf-styling tips to create more looks with that one scarf in your wardrobe.

One Bag, Multiple Styles

Roll it up and tie it in a double knot or ribbon around one of your bag handles, letting the ends hang free, or simply wrap the scarf around the handle of your bag then tie the excess into a knot. By wrapping the scarf around the handles, it helps with protecting and prolonging the condition of the original leather.

Wrist Candy

Fold your scarf into a triangle then roll it up to your preferred thickness then wrap it around your wrist, and secure it with a ribbon or a knot. This will add lots of colour to your outfits this Spring!

This tip is definitely one of my favourites because of how fast, easy and on-the-go it is to transform a scarf into a jewellery.

3. Bunch Your Brooches

Nobody can resist mixing up some artistic jewellery that has added functionality!

Brooches are an elegant and chic accessory that’s also a versatile jewellery for tops and jackets. Wearing a brooch instantly makes any outfit look more outstanding and unique as it adds dimension and sophistication. By adding a simple brooch, you can add elegance and give your outfit its own personality while having the functionality of pinning layers together for the added security.

This tip is popular on the runways, too!

Instead of wearing just one brooch, bunch a few together along the neckline or the lapels of your favourite top to give it a whole new look. This is a different way to spice up your outfit by adding your own personal touch.

Important note: While it may look good to bunch several brooches together, especially on plain tops or sweaters, do make sure that the weight of the brooch does not stretch or pull down onto the fabric. (I’ve learned it the hard way!)

4. The ‘IT’ Bag Accessory

Ever since the late Karl Lagerfeld launched his Karlito collection of bag charms, seeing these quirky “monsters” hanging from many designer bags have been a common sight.

To me, a bag charm is just like a piece jewellery and it does the same in elevating your arm candies to look more unique and chic. This style tip will definitely add texture in a more artistic way and make heads turn.

5. Layer The Minis

The highly raved ‘mini bags’ that carry as many items as our patience (Thank you, Jacquemus) have been all the rage these days. While these bags may not be for everyone, they’re too cute to miss out on. They may not be much use for everyday but they make the perfect model for your already everyday bag.

One of our favourite ways to wear them is exactly like a bag charm. With your everyday large shopper top, slip the mini bag onto the handle to add an extra dash of coloru and extra dimension to your outfit.

This is an alluring yet easy way to add an extra dimension, a touch of playfulness, and finish off your outfit with a pop of colour. Not to mention, it allows you to organise your everyday bag better — this tiny compartment can store your AirPods, credit cards, or lipsticks.
