A Thing or Two: Ways of Folding

Written by

When it comes to our outfits, everyone loves a good trick or two to transform our look with simple changes. Sometimes, even the most casual looking scrunch in our sleeves takes our style from formal to lively. And here's the best part - you don't have to go into spending hours for that perfect cuff or fold.  We've taken a page or two from the Japanese, who are known to be detail-oriented and meticulous, for that effortless fold every time. - it's almost like origami, but for clothes!

We've zoomed in on 3 different clothing items and styles that are most likely our go-to clothing, and, something slightly bolder for those willing to try a new look.

CUFFED SLEEVES

Step 1: Unbutton the cuffs of your shirt and fold it upwards to your elbow.

Step 2: Halve it with another fold to your elbow, leaving the tips of your cuffs sticking out.

Step 3: Fold down the tips to 'lock' the fold in place, whilst giving it some detail.

Step 4: Scrunch up the portion above the cuffed sleeve slightly.

Step 5: Tada!

This is perfect for when you need that extra little detail to stand out whilst retaining the whole functionality of a folded, cuffed sleeve.

CUFFED JEANS

Step 1: Fold up an inch from the base of your jeans.

Step 2: Add another fold to match the first fold.

Step 3: Fold the back of your jeans through to the midway point of your jeans up, so that a little 'cut crease' is formed.

Yet another simple way of adding some pattern to your jeans, whilst locking the folds into place. Perfect if you're a jean-lover!

CASUAL WRAPAROUND

Step 1: Fold your square scarf into a triangle.

Step 2: Fold it once again to match the previous triangle.

Step 3: Hold both ends of the scarf in each hand respectively, the non-tied ends and the folded end.

Step 4 (it gets slightly complicated here!) : Place your hand through the loop in between the scarf to catch the inner portion of the untied end.

Step 5: Loop it through and hold it there.

Step 6: Loop it backwards, to match the remaining untied end of the scarf.

Step 7: Knot the ends in place!

For the more adventurous, or those finding new ways to spruce up their scarf game, this one's for you!

All in all we really enjoyed learning this new, yet simple, tips on how to spruce up our outfits. I guess it's really all in the little details!
