Fashion Geek: The Right Shades for your (Face) Shape

From rounded to cat-eye, oval to aviators. With so many sunglasses to choose from, how do you make sure you got the right one that will frame your face nicely? This issue, we offer tips on how to choose the right pair of shades for your face shape.

Oval

Those with oval-shaped faces can pull off almost any style of sunglasses. So, go for bold shapes with fun colours for a youthful vibe. Because of the elongated face shape, the best sunglasses shape is one where it is rectangular or somewhat similar to that in shape. This horizontal width of the glasses balances the vertical length of your face. If you have high cheekbones, go for a pair that has a slight up-tick at the corners - a pair of cat-eye glasses, for instance.

Square

Square, angular face shapes can take bold shapes better. We'd recommend aviator styles or, if you're feeling adventurous, go for circle frames. Basically, bold-shaped or rounded sunglasses softens the angular jawline of a square-shaped face.

Heart

Go for lighter colours when it comes to choosing frames. but because you are your widest around the brow area and narrower at the chin, go for shapes that will elongate your face. Also, pick those with thin temples so as not to add weight to the top half of your head.

Round

Your soft, feminine features are great but to make your face appear sharper and elongated, go for glasses with a wider horizontal frames - Wayfarers are good. Or go for softer aviator-shaped sunglasses.
