Trend Report: Fab Flats

It is no secret that at THE FIFTH COLLECTION, we love a good pair of heels. But, once in a while, we get excited when the spotlight is trained on comfortable yet chic footwear instead.
This season, designers are cutting back on the impossibly high, vertiginous heels and showcasing some of the loveliest pairs of flat sandals. At 3.1 Phillip Lim, for instance, the Thailand-born Chinese-American designer sent his models out in cool (albeit slightly weird) menswear-meets-slingback hybrids. Then, there are those from designer duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler which let you bare some toes.

Whatever your preference, there is something for everyone. From Floaty, feminine dresses (just as it was shown on the Spring/Summer 2014 runways of Isabel Marant and Valentino) to slim-cut cropped pants, these flats sandals can be paired with almost anything and everything in your wardrobe.

So, take a leaf out of the Spring/Summer 2014 collections and put aside this super-high heels, teetering platforms and chancy wedges. For the next few months, being flat is most definitely in.
