Finding your prints charming

You don't have to go head to toe in print but you can work those pieces into your everyday wardrobe

by Rohaizatul Azhar

Working a printed outfit is a daunting experience that is often best left to the professionals.

So, we thought it be best to look to Belgian designer Dries van Noten, who is known to do colourful but subtle prints. You don’t have to go head-to-toe but you can incorporate these pieces into your wardrobe.

If your go-to comfort look is T-shirt and jeans but need to get on that video call or meeting from home, fret not. Throw on this silk kimono-like overlay which immediately makes you stand out on screen. Plus, you can also head out in this combo - especially on days when it is neither that cold nor that warm.

Nighttime activities may end early these days but that doesn't mean you can't dress up for those dinner dates. Go for a classic black printed long dress, which you can cinch at the waist to highlight your figure, or wear it lose as a maxi dress with sandals for those lazy weekends.

Go for a relaxed day look when you're running errands on the weekend. The sarong skirt is light and ensures that you keep cool. Need to feel like you're on a beach holiday even when you're stuck at home? Throw on a white tank top, some sunglasses and a hat as you make your way to the pool

Sports luxe lovers can go for this two-piece printed cotton set. Worn together, the look works for both office and play. Best part: They are sold separately so you can mix and match with your existing wardrobe any way you want. #fashionmathematician

When mixing and matching patterns and prints, make sure that one is more subdued and subtle than the other. This ensures that the "clash" looks intentional rather than accidental. Keep the rest of your accessories colour coordinated for uniformity.
