Smooth Operator: By Terry Review

I discovered the By Terry Terrybly Densiliss serum foundation, and fell head-over-heels in love with it.

Just before Christmas I decided I needed some pick-me-up shopping. When I am not shopping for my closet, I love to shop for my vanity table and this was how I discovered the By Terry Terrybly Densiliss serum foundation. I fell head-over-heels in love with it and decided to, of course, share my find on page five.

First of all, what you should know about me is that, as much as I buy alot of make-up, I rarely use them all. I am the type of person who loves the idea of putting on make-up, will do it for a bit but then, pretty much like to be (and look) au naturel. I like simple morning routines and I dislike that feeling of having too much things, like thick and heavy foundation, on my skin. I also have olive skin which means that I do need a bit of sun to look my best. Sadly, my computer does not give me the rays that my skin needs.

This is why I am always on the look-out for light-coloured creams that will give my skin an even tone but also that irresistible glow. So, when the sales assistant in Escentials made me try the By Terry Densiliss on my hand, my first reaction was to be amazed by the texture and coverage - It covers up just enough and is so light. And then she applied it on my face and, with two strokes, I had an even tone that felt natural on the skin and with that slight glow. This was despite the fact that I was experiencing the beginnings of a cold and certainly did not look my best.

I have heard so much good things about By Terry, who’s founder is behind the infamous Touche Eclat by Yves Saint Laurent and I was always curious to try her line. But, of course, I needed an excuse to shed precious dollars on it. And there I had it, it was the holiday season and I did love the way I looked - at least in the shop.
Oh, and did I mention that this light foundation also camouflages wrinkles? What more can one ask for, right?

I have been wearing it almost everyday now and I get lots of compliments on my skin tone. Best part?  My better half noticed it, and really, there is not a better way of testing a product than that! I also was asked which blush I was using despite the fact that I was not using a blush. So, that definitely meant I had the glow.

Now, on to the more technical reasons as to why I love it.

It glides smoothly on your skin and the application is super easy - it blends naturally on your skin, giving you an even tone without caking. You can even apply it with your fingers and you don't need much blending in order for it to look natural. So if, like me, you like your morning routine to be efficient, you will be happy with it. I also appreciate the fact that I don’t perspire, if you know what I mean.

Living in the tropics does mean that when the humidity level is at its maximum, some foundation make you feel like you are loosing your make-up. Another plus is the powdery finish that I use to only find in foundations that Yves Saint Laurent used to make. It was unfortunately discontinued years ago, which means that I glow but I don't shine.

Which is why I am happy with my purchase and am pleasantly happy with the results thus far. The delicate scent is icing on the cake for me because I am super sensitive when it comes to scents and I do have a list of brands that I can't use because of the smell - mostly lipstick though.

However, By Terry products do come with a hefty price tag but I feel that the bottle will last me a while. I will definitely repurchase it once its finished. Now, I just need to find other excuses to try to rest of the line!

By Terry line is available at Escentials, The Terrybly Densiliis Serum Foundation retails for 165 SGD.
